Aimee Hilario
Birth documentarian and Doula in Training
Aimee Hilario
In addition to her amazing work as a birth documentarian (click here to read more), Aimee is also a doula in training with Angela. Aimee is a passionate woman who, like Karina, sees herself as an advocate for women; an influencer, encourager, supportive friend, and an energetic soul who brings her chill energy into any space. Aimee was born in Dominican Republic, but migrated to New York at the tender age of 4. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, identifies as Latina-Americana, and -- having grown up with both cultures -- is very understanding of the hardship of balancing the two worlds.
Aimee graduated Ramapo College of NJ with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She worked at a shelter for female survivors of domestic violence, which is where her skills in advocacy for women really began to flourish. Although she ultimately decided to go down the path of photography instead of social work, she continued to use her skills to help others. Once she stumbled upon the opportunity to document a friend’s birth, she fell in love and everything shifted in her life!
Aimee is very excited to be in the world of child birth. She is currently being trained and mentored by Senior Doula, Angela Lessa. “I wasn’t sure if I was meant to come back to true advocacy work," said Aimee, "but the universe knew that I needed both of these worlds (photography and social work). This brings me back to why I studied Social Work to begin with. I look forward to serving women in any positive way possible, until the end of time!”
Aimee is rooted in Northern New Jersey and devoted to raising her own two empowered little diamond girls, alongside her videographer husband, Dan.
